English First Tang Shan, Nov 2003-Dec 2004. General English Teacher, teaching students of all ages, from children as young as 4 to adult learners, and in classes of all sizes, ranging from one to one through to classes of 60-70 teenagers. Mostly general English, with some occasional IELTS teaching.

Language and Cultural Experiences
Grew up in Singapore, so visited many South East Asian countries such as Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia as a child. Later moved to London, and whilst studying at university visited countries such Switzerland, Peru and Uganda. China is the first foreign country that I have lived in for an appreciable length of time, having lived here now for almost 2 years.

About Myself
I come from a mixed background, my mother is a Singaporean Chinese and my father is British. I have a twin brother as well as a younger sister. I am interested in diving and snowboarding but alas, don’t get to do either of them very often. On a more regular basis, I play any racket sport available (tennis, badminton, table tennis, squash) – the choice is often constricted by lack of people to play with!

Why I came to China.
I came to China, quite simply, to learn Chinese.

Why I chose to work at Kai En?
I chose Kai En because they are one of the few English schools I have come across in China that actually seem to care about teacher development. I was also attracted by the opportunity of teaching Chinese adults (having mostly taught children and teenagers beforehand).
