Branch Facilities

Classrooms are large, well-lit, and have movable seating arrangements intended to facilitate student interaction. All classrooms have a white-board and are air-conditioned/heated. There is a large preparation room, with lockers for the teachers' personal belongings as well as a refrigerator, microwave, and tea and coffee making facilities.

The school has an extensive library of English teaching books and periodicals, containing mostly imported books and audiotapes. In addition, teachers are encouraged to use and contribute to teaching material files, which serve as both a resource and a medium for teachers to share ideas. Teachers have access to a photocopier, computers with Internet capabilities, and an expanding collection of teaching aids including cassette players and an overhead projector. We also have a large screen television and video player for use in class.

Branch Management

All of the senior managers at Kai En are westerners who have teaching backgrounds, ensuring that all the managers at Kai En empathize with teacher’s needs. A typical Kai En school consists of a local branch manager, who oversees the running of the center, schedules teachers, organizes classes, and oversees student enrolment. The teacher trainer, who is supervised by the academic coordinator, works closely with the branch manager to ensure high quality teaching by delivering practical workshops, providing teachers with practical ideas on class preparation, observing teachers in action, providing feedback on their performance. In addition, each branch has many administrative staff who support the branch manager to deal with such issues as payroll, visa applications, accommodations...etc. Of course, in addition to these administrative and managerial staff, each branch has a full faculty of both foreign and local English teachers.

School #1 – Wuyi Road
This is our first and oldest branch. It is located in Changning District in the west of Shanghai. This is a residential district just outside the downtown area. The school is located on the 8th floor of a ten floor building. The branch has 9 classrooms and good classroom preparation facilities. Classrooms are designed for 12-16 students.

School #2 – Zhejiang Road
This is our largest branch with a total of 18 classrooms. It is located downtown in the center of the city and is easily accessible by bus and subway. The school surroundings consist of shopping malls, office space and retail space. The school is located on the 14th floor of a modern office building. The facilities are excellent with brightly lit and spacious classrooms. Classrooms are designed for between 12-16 students.

School #3 – Yang Pu
This is our smallest branch with a total of 8 classrooms. It is located in a suburban area in the north of the city. This branch is located in a residential area and is also in close proximity to many of Shanghai’s most famous universities like TongjiUniversity and FudanUniversity.

The school is on the 12th floor of a very modern building only recently constructed in 2004. Classrooms are designed for 12-16 students.

School #4 – PudongSchool
This is our newest branch. It is located in downtown Pudong and is easily accessible by bus and subway. The school surroundings consist of shopping malls, office space and retail space. The school is located on the 20th floor of a modern office building. The facilities are excellent with brightly lit and spacious classrooms. Classrooms are designed for between 12-16 students.
